fire~*~The Watchers~*~fire

~*~In the beginning...when it was only the original four, the fifth was brought accross...Her name was Phoebeus...The daughter of one of the males, she was by nature very powerful...and anything powerful feels with either great depth...or none...Be it blessing or bane, Phoebeus felt...and she felt strongly...Every feeling that others around her felt, she felt too...only she felt it ten-fold...This empathy led to what would be her legacy...~*~

~*~When Phoebeus was but a fledgling, she came accross what she believed to be the soul of a child-hood friend, inside the body of another mortal...And so was born her obsession...Phoebeus grew close to this mortal...she showered her with gifts...did anything and everything within her power to help this woman...But she did it from the shadows...ne'er revealing who was behind the little gifts of love...~*~

~*~When this mortal died, Phoebeus moved on...trying to find the child who would now bear the soul of her mortal friend...She searched the world for years and years...finally finding the new mortal host...And finding a new desire to go along with her obsession...She wanted to find others that she had known...She needed to find the others she had known...And slowly, but surely, she did...She located her parents...her extended family...her friends...And once they were found, she decided ne'er to let go...~*~

~*~She guarded these few mortals...always standing a step too far into the shadows to be discovered...When they faced problems...she reached out her hand to guide them through their situations...She could not let these people suffer at the hands of lady luck...she had to give them a winning hand...~*~

~*~Over the years, the number of mortals she watched grew...not because she located more "originals," but because she became obsessed with the concept of being an angel to the ones which she so needed to kill...Therefore, she brought more mortals under her protection...guiding them from one life to the next...When the task became too large for her to accomplish alone, she sought the help of a dear friend of hers...Nosiddam...An immortal...also a child of one of The Four...~*~

~*~Together they took care of the mortals, but eventually the task grew too large for even two...They sought help from other immortals...trying to find ones that shared like opinions toward humanity and toward the souls trapped inside their bodies...They managed to find a handful of nosferatu willing to help...with the ability to help...~*~

~*~These new watchers aided greatly in the task...Though, while they were keeping watch over the mortals Phoebeus had assigned them, she and Nosiddam sought out others...They found new cases and new nosferatu...Eventually, Phoebeus spent little time actually guarding the mortals, but more of searching for them...Yet, she did keep a select few under her wing...and she was always there for an emergency...~*~

~*~The group was elite and it took a very special type of mentality to be able to last in such a thankless job...But she found those who were dedicated and she showed them the ropes...and they...they were the ones who carried on the scrolls...they were the ones who brought her dream to life...~*~

~*~The Watchers and The House of Andromeda crossed paths in a strange twist of fate...Jennelle and Xanthia were wandering the countryside when they came accross a young woman...a young woman with a very old soul...Both of them recognized that, but neither could fathom the pain she felt...Such intensity for a mortal being...such vibrant intensity...Xanthia thought momentarily of killing the girl...to end the pain...but she could not...something was stopping her...Jennelle felt it as well...a presence...something watching this child...a nosferatu was watching this child...~*~

~*~As the Sisters were walking away, still unseen by the child of pain, they heard a voice...a voice that spoke to them in a way that only a vampyre can...She told them of the trials of the the mortal...and with that knowledge the voice urged them to go to her...to help her...to guide her...The Sisters wished nothing but good will for the girl, so they decided to heed the voice and to heed the voice's cry...~*~

~*~Somehow...the Sisters reached the girl...reached her very soul...They did what Phoebeus had failed to do...and with that test, Phoebeus revealed herself to them...And she petitioned them to join her in the Watchers Guild...Brought in as neophytes, they worked their ways through the levels...Finally emerging on the top...As The Eternal Watchers...~*~

~*~When Phoebeus died in the late 300's (CE), Jennelle and Xanthia were left as the leaders of the group; seeing as how Nosiddam could not retain his dedication after her death, he, too, left the Order...With the new title, they were given posession of the scrolls...and the task of guaring and guiding...yet, remaining unnoticed...They were also given the task of finding any new souls that may appear and of finding willing immortal help...~*~

~*~The task of locating new souls was not a problem, 'twas easy in a sea of so many familiars...'Twas the duty of recruiting immortals that perplexed them...So few were willing to help...and even fewer were willing to go the full distance with their training and dedication...This was a turning point for the sisters...They needed to find willing help, so they broke one of the cardinal rules of the Watchers...They revealed themselves to certain mortals...forcing these dedicated humans to remember the dark angels who wished only to protect them...These few mortals were brought into the Guild...and they were brought back in with each new life cycle...~*~

~*~Also brought in were some other forms of immortal creatures...A small number of weres...Two banshee; Lyla and Lily...And a few fae...These creatures help undo the burden of the nosferatu watchers...And they serve the same ultimate purpose...they guide mortal souls through their plights...Giving them guidance invisible...~*~

~*~Today, The Watchers are staggerd accross the globe...They stretch into all corners of society...they penetrate every tribe, klan and city...And they remain in the shadows of their lives...leaving behind but a faint trace of immortal trust...eternal trust between the watcher and the watched...~*~

~*~Xanthia and Jennelle today are still the Eternal Watchers...they have again assumed the duties of such...They watch from afar...stepping in only so often...and for only so long...They each retain certain partnerships...certain mortals which they will watch for all time...but this is all...their ranks are large and there is not so much need of them as recruiters...yet, when they see one with great potential 'tis still within their duty to bring them into the Society...The Sisters do still retain the scrolls, though...They maintain them...translating and retranslating into each new vernacular...They are the keepers...they retain the knowledge of every souls progression and such...and they maintain order amongst the Order.~*~

~*~Although, Xanthia and Jennelle know of the whereabouts and the nature of all the watchers in the Order, there is little or no contact between the Watchers...They stay to themselves and their souls...Not venturing far from their domain...'Tis a secretive collective by nature, yet they are not unfriendly, nor are they unkind...'Tis all a matter of prospective...Many of the Watchers, it is presumed, lead a normal life aside from their duties...As 'tis known that Xanthia and Jennelle do...~*~

~*~Eventually, Xanthia and Jennelle may pass on the title of Eternal Watcher, though 'tis rather far in the future, if ever...Yet, there are some new plans for the group...though they are as of yet unrealized...Nonetheless, rest assured, They shall always be there...lurking in that shadow zone...Acting as conscience and spiritual guardian...forever...eternal...~*~
